As the Green Party candidate for New York City Public Advocate, I hope to create an environment within our city government and agencies that respects social and economic justice issues for all our neighborhoods and families. We live in a time where people are dealing with catastrophic hardships and are in desperate need of salvation. As Public Advocate, I will create the resources we need to help the many communities around our city that have been repeatedly neglected and or abused by City Hall and its various agencies. Every New Yorker, despite their social and economic status deserves the basic right to a clean safe environment, living wage jobs, truly affordable housing, free healthcare to name a few.
Like many of us with children in the New York City public school system, I am an advocate free quality education. As Public Advocate, I will fight to reduce class size, make schools safer, prevent classroom funding cuts and ensure that our children our treated than more than just a test score.
New York City is a vibrant and diverse community, but due to gentrification and rising rents much of what made our city felt like home and a place for small business owners to thrive has been dismantled beyond repair. All too often, City Hall refuses to hear the voices of the people and instead makes crucial decisions based on their corporate donors rather than addressing the needs in the neighborhoods they represent. As Public Advocate, I plan on providing the tools for organizing and empowering communities to stand up to city government and its agencies when they fail us and build a New York City that honors and respects all people and not just the wealthy.
